LISD addresses rumors of violence

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

"Lubbock ISD would like parents to know that the district is aware of the text messages and rumors on social networking sites this morning regarding a possible altercation.  These are only rumors.  No campuses have been placed on lock down, no incidents have occurred.  As a precautionary measure only, an increased police presence has been established at both Monterey and Coronado High Schools.  Campus administration and law enforcement personnel will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day. "

UPDATE: Friday night, LISD spokesperson Nancy Sharp contacted KCBD to say the district's original statement should not have included an increased police presence at Coronado High School.  She says there was not an increased number of officers at Coronado.
