LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Councilman Victor Hernandez might know Monday evening if his proposal for bi-lingual hearings on City of Lubbock redistricting will become a reality. Last Thursday Hernandez proposed bi-lingual hearings during a City Council meeting.
Hernandez says it was suggested by fellow Councilman Paul R. Beane that Hernandez ask if the Hispanic Business Division of the Lubbock Chamber might provide such a service at no cost to taxpayers.
"We're trying our best to help," said Chamber President Eddie McBride. The Chamber itself would not provide the service but perhaps a Chamber member would.
"It's not a done deal, but we're hopeful of providing assistance." McBride hopes to have an answer for Hernandez prior to a Monday evening get-to-know-each-other meeting of the city's redistricting committee.
