Volunteers Needed For 'American Tribute'

More than 3,000 flags will fly in tribute at Lubbock's September 11th Anniversary Memorial. For most of those flags, it will be a return trip to the South Plains.

The Florida mill which manufactures and prints the flag fabric buys most of its cotton from Texas. Half of all Texas cotton is grown from the 25 county High Plains area surrounding Lubbock.

The flags, each one in memory of the 9-11 victims, will be posted in Lubbock's Kastman Park on South Loop 289. Ceremonies to honor those victims and first responders will begin on Wednesday, September 10 and continue through Thursday, September 11th.

Hundreds of volunteers are still needed to assemble the flags and poles. To sign up, call (806)789-3524 .
