John Copeland era at LCU ends

EDMOND, OK (KCBD) – The John Copeland era has come to an end at the heels of a Lubbock Christian University 104-103 loss to Rogers State University in triple overtime.

Copeland, who coached men's basketball at LCU for 31 seasons, announced his pending retirement earlier this season.

The high scoring game was closely contested throughout. However, there was controversy in the final seconds.  Rashad Samples' layup was blocked at the end of the third overtime, assuring Rogers State a win with six seconds left on the clock.

After a video review, which isn't allowed in Division III,  the whistle could have been blown for goaltending which would have put the Chaps up by one point.

LCU men end the season with a 18-11 record.
