LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Friday one of five suspected 'generals' of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas was arrested in Lubbock. Police arrested 40-year-old John Clark around 5:30 p.m. while he was stopped at a traffic light.
According to the arrest warrant, police have been investigating Clark and his involvement as the ‘general' of the West Texas region of the Aryan Brotherhood since October. The warrant states police got a tip from a prospect of the gang. That person came to police after being threatened when trying to leave the gang. The warrant states that Clark was also under federal investigation.
Police arrested Clark in the 5400 hundred block of 4th street. Video of the arrest can be seen on the right side of our page. Lt. Neal Barron says authorities had two warrants for his arrest.
"Two warrants out for Mr. Clark, the first is being director of a criminal street gang which is a first degree felony, and the second is aggravated assault which is a second degree felony," Barrron said.
After he was arrested LPD questioned Clark for a couple of hours. He was then transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center. According to the warrant his bond is set at $100,000. We asked Barron about the gang.
"The Aryan Brotherhood is basically a criminal street gang and they are involved in the activities of a criminal street gang involved with narcotics, prostitution, and just other illegal activities," Barron said.
Barron wasn't sure where a "general" stands in the ranks within the gang but he called it a substantial arrest. He also said it will have an impact on the gang's organization.
Clark is expected to have his arraignment next week.
