Cook-out to benefit Motley County in Floydada

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – It's been almost a week since massive wildfires charred 41,000 acres in Motley County. The Texas Forest Service estimates it cost the Motley County Volunteer Fire Department about 1 dollar an acre to fight the fire in Matador. The cost doesn't include what other volunteer departments spent to respond.

On Sunday, the volunteer firefighters in Floydada will host a cookout to help raise money for their neighbors. All the proceeds will help cover response costs. The cooking starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. or until all the food runs out.

If you're interested in attending the fund, you won't be able to miss the fire trucks at Lowe's.
