Former Police officer will go to trial for third charge of sexual assault

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A former Lubbock Police Officer, accused of sexually assaulting two of his adoptive daughters stands indicted on a third assault charge.

Last month, a grand jury indicted 32-year-old Jason Hignight on two counts of sexual assault of a child.  The district attorney presented new evidence about another victim who claims Hignight sexually assaulted her in 2007. The assault occurred when she was 18 years of age.

Grand jury members found enough evidence, on Tuesday, to send Hignight to trial for that charge. He remains jailed as of Tuesday evening.
