LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A Lubbock teen will go on trial for a December hit and run that severely injured 40-year-old Eddie King. Police say King was walking near 50th and Slide, when 19-year-old Tommy Munos hit him. Authorities issued a warrant for his arrest late last month, and on Tuesday, Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted Munos for failure to stop and render aid. Investigators say Munos admitted that he hit something that night, but thought it was a sign, because he says he never saw King crossing the street. Doctors have since released King from the hospital.

Also, the same Grand Jury indicted 28-year-old Christopher Thomas for failure to stop and render aid.  He is charged in January hit and run that injured 19-year-old Ashton Cerka.  Cerka was walking across 19th Street, near Crickets Avenue, when he was hit in the early morning hours of January 28th.  Later that morning, police say Thomas called from a home in Ropesville to report the accident.  Cerka was released from Covenant Hospital and is now at the Baylor Institute of Rehab.

The family has set up a benefit fund for Ashton. Donations can be made at any American State Bank.
