Lubbock libraries are seeing more missing books returned. That's because the city hired a collections agency six months ago to help. Thursday, the city council voted to continue the partnership.
The collections agency has helped collect $23,000 in missing books and $13,000 in overdue fines. The collection agency is charging library users fines, on top of city fines, if users are overdue.
It's estimated the public libraries have been losing $160,000 a year in lost books, materials and fines.
