The music was alive at the 3rd Annual Buddy Holly Music Festival and Symposium on Saturday. Aspiring artists took part in a panel discussion at the Blue Light. The musicians learned tricks of the trade from professionals in the music business, and at the Buddy Holly Center the focus was on West Texas Rock n Roll from the 1960's era.
According to the museum shop sales manager, Shelby Morrison, the festival is drawing a crowd of more than just Lubbockites.
"We've had people from Australia, England, Canada. As well as people from all over the states, Florida, Utah, Indiana, Illinois are all here this week because of Buddy Holly and all the activities that are going go on," says Morrison.
The event concludes Sunday with the Buddy Holly Music Festival at the Buddy Holly Center. The fun starts at 10:00 a.m. and wraps up at 9:30 p.m. The Fan Fair featuring the Holley Family and Maria Elena Holly will be at 3:00 p.m. And even better, the event is free of charge.
