Lubbock looking for help with "outer loop" & other thoroughfares

By James Clark - email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock is looking for a planning or engineering firm to update the city's 2007 Thoroughfare Plan.  The firm will recommend thoroughfare standards in the Lubbock's Extra Territorial Jurisdiction, which is generally the area that extends five miles beyond the city limits.  The firm will also look for and correct errors in the current map.

Official records say the firm will also, "Coordinate with the Lubbock District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to identify the location of the "outer loop" for Lubbock."

The outer loop, or "outer route" as it sometimes called, will also be added to the updated Thoroughfare Plan, and "may not be finalized by TxDOT until the latter part of 2011."  Lubbock is accepting request for qualifications for a planning or engineering firm until March 29th.
