Lubbock Pays Tribute to Buddy Holly

The sounds of Buddy Holly's music are lingering over the South Plains as the four day Buddy Holly festival comes to an end. The Buddy Holly festival wrapped up Sunday with 20 performers paying tribute to the late Rock-n-Roll legend.

The festival began Thursday with concerts and a symposium to document the influence of Holly's tunes on Lubbock and the music industry. Holly was killed in a plane crash on February 3rd, 1959 with fellow musicians Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, better known as the Big Bopper.
