Flames destroy Lubbock County man's home

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Fire ripped through a Lubbock County man's mobile home Monday afternoon.  Woodrow and Wolfforth Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the home near 118th Street and University Avenue around 3:00 p.m.

Steve Booker owns the mobile home.  He rents the property that the home sits on from Brandon Black.  Black tells KCBD that Booker is a truck driver.  He was out of state Monday when his home caught fire.  Black says that Booker hopes to be back sometime Tuesday.

Crews had the fire out it about an hour, but remained on scene until 4:45 p.m. dousing hot spots.  A cause of the fire has not yet been released.  There is another mobile home just south of Booker's.  Fortunately the wind was down, and crews had the fire out before flames could spread across the dry grass to that home.
