LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The Lady Raiders found out their NCAA Tournament plans as they were picked to be an 8 seed against 9th seeded St. John's (21-10) 3 p.m. central time Saturday in Palo Alto, California. If Tech can win, they'd most likely play host to Stanford. The #1 seeded Cardinal (29-2) play UC Davis on Saturday.
It's the Lady Raiders first NCAA Tournament bid since 2005, which ended a 16 year streak of going to the Big Dance.
Kristy Curry's squad started out the season with a 13-1 non-conference mark and in Big 12 play went 8-8, including three Top 25 wins. Tech topped then #20 Iowa State, #1 Baylor and #18 Oklahoma.
The Lady Raiders have a Top 25 RPI and had the 24th toughest schedule in the country, which will prepare them well for their NCAA Tournament run.
