One of the 11 Texas Senate Democrats who has been in New Mexico boycotting the GOP backed congressional redistricting is heading home Tuesday.
Senator John Whitmire's presence back in Texas would give Republicans the quorum they need to consider redistricting if another special session is called.
The Democrats have been in Albuquerque since July 28th to block discussions on redistricting. Republican Governor Rick Perry's second special legislative session on the issue ended last week.
Whitmire, who's the dean of the Texas delegation, spent the Labor Day weekend with his family in Houston. He briefly returned to New Mexico to meet with other Democrats and let them know about his plans.
