The City of Lubbock has decided to extend its search for a new city manager. Originally, the citizens committee in charge of the search had set a deadline of August 29th. This week the committee decided to change the deadline to October 6th.
The new deadline will give the committee a chance to recruit more applicants at the ICMA Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina later this month. More than 8,000 managers from across the nation and the world are expected to attend the annual conference.
After the October deadline the committee's next step is to narrow down the applicants to two or three top candidates. Those candidates will then be recommended to the city council.
