LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock woman, Kathy Jolee Allen, 35, will have to serve 14 years in federal prison for participating in smurfing conspiracy. Allen pleaded guilty last year and she was sentenced last week.

Smurfing is the collection of small, legal amounts of pseudo-ephedrine and amassing them into larger illegal amounts. Pseudo-ephedrine can be used to make methamphetamine. Officials say Allen was one of 17 people participating in the conspiracy.
