The election is almost six months away but Ysidro Gutierrez got a jump start by announcing his intention of running for the Precinct 3 Lubbock County Commissioner seat. The 51-year-old Democrat made the announcement at Lala's Restaurant Saturday afternoon.
Gutierrez received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Business Administration from Texas Tech and is a member of several local organizations and government committees. He also served in the US Army Medical Department for 20 years.
Gutierrez said he will focus on paving county roads in Precinct 3, county government efficiency and his opposition to elected officials giving themselves pay raises. Democrat Gilbert Flores is the current Precinct 3 Commissioner and could face Gutierrez in the March 2nd primaries.
