Two suspects are in custody Sunday after a Levelland man was found stabbed to death early Saturday morning. Levelland Police say they responded to a call from the 200 block of Avenue N around 5 a.m. Saturday. A resident said there was a man either passed out or dead in the front yard.
When police arrived, 29-year-old Martin Gonzales Jr. was lying in a pool of blood, with multiple stab wounds. Gonzales was taken to Covenant Hospital Levelland and was pronounced dead.
Sgt. Garcia of the Levelland Police Department says 17-year-old Chris Viernes and 26-year-old Paul Ochoa have been issued warrants for the murder of Gonzales. They are being held at the Yoakum County Jail.
An autopsy has been ordered and the investigation is continuing. This is the third murder in Levelland in less than six weeks.
