Whatever Happened to the Jerry S. Rawls Golf Course?

After nearly a decade in the making, Texas Tech University is ready to unveil its 268 acre golf course.

Texas Tech boasts it is one of the finest new golf courses in the country. The new Jerry S. Rawls championship golf course hosts its grand opening tournament this weekend. But, the course is already open to the public and it's getting rave reviews.

"Very nice," says one golfer just coming off the course. "It's just great, you don't feel like you're in Lubbock. It's plenty long that's for sure," says another.

The verdict is in on TTU's new course. "Beautiful." "Someone did a great job here." "Tough!" "Challenging!"

It would appear the courses designers and architects hit the mark. This course is everything a good golfer looks for. "It's one of the finest new courses in America," says Course Managing Director Jack North.

And it's already open. But this coming weekend, the course will truly be put to the test, with the celebrity grand opening tournament, featuring a cast of celebrities who promise to make the tourney memorable. Including: Adam Sandler, Tom Arnold, Kevin McHale, Bill Russell, Bob Knight and EJ Holub.

So, this weekend, as Texas Tech football enjoys the 'bye' week, Red Raider fans can come here to soak up a little sun and some golf. Gallery tickets for the star studded celebrity tourney are $10 for adults $5 for children.
