Police in Plainview are investigating a second murder in as many weeks. A Plainview toddler is dead and his mother's boyfriend is behind bars for the apparent beating death.
The boy was airlifted to Covenant Hospital in Plainview with head injuries on Saturday afternoon. Life support was removed at 10 a.m. Monday morning and the child died.
Police arrested 24-year-old Johnny Rivera Jr. on a capital murder charge late Monday morning. He says he was babysitting when the child fell out of the high-chair. But Police Captain Michael Carroll says the injuries are not consistent with a fall.
