Early voters are turning out in record numbers for the Texas Constitutional Amendment Election. 3,632 people have voted early in Lubbock County, so far. That number is considerably higher than the constitutional election two years ago, when a little over 1,600 people voted. Four years ago, that number was 1,293 voters.
There are 22 amendments on the ballot, but it is Proposition 12 that is probably bringing in the votes. Proposition 12 would place a cap on non-economic damages in malpractice lawsuits.
Early voting continues through Tuesday. Then, Saturday, September 13th is election day.
