Texas Tech regents set cap for tuition and fees hike

Posted: Updated:

Texas Tech University regents approved a cap for tuition and fees not to exceed 5.9 percent for 2011.

Initially, board members looked at the numbers based on an inevitable increase proposal between 3.95 and 5.9 percent.  Regent Nancy Neal proposed expanding the range from zero to 5.9 percent, and the board agreed.

The total increase for both tuition and fees for students taking 15 credit hours will be a maximum of $253. For full time students taking 30 hours, the maximum increase they can expect to pay will be around $500.

University regents will keep a close eye on what happens in Austin. They will meet again on May 12th and 13th to make a final decision.
