Accident sends motorcycle rider to hospital with serious injuries

A motorcyclist is in serious condition Saturday evening after he lost control of his motorcycle. Police say that Jose Rejalio, 22, was the only person involved in the accident that occurred around the intersection of 27th and Ave. P.

"The rider was northbound and appeared to clip a telephone pole as well as a couple of curbs and continued northbound eventually hit a stop sign and hit a fire hydrant resting there," Lt. Jon Caspell with the Lubbock Police Department said.

Accident investigators also say that he was wearing his helmet. Lubbock Police received the call around 7:30 p.m. and Rejalio was taken to University Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

It is not clear if speed or alcohol were factors. A full accident investigation is underway.
