LAMESA, TX (KCBD) -

A Dawson County man remained hospitalized in Lubbock Monday, after authorities say Sylvia Ortiz, 43 set him on fire.  Lamesa Police were called to a domestic dispute on Friday. They say the 49-year-old victim approached them, bleeding from the face neck and chest.

Investigators say it appears Ortiz doused the victim with rubbing alcohol, then lit him on fire. The victim also is being treated for potential internal injuries, due to inhaling the flames.

A second male was also at the scene, according to police.  He reportedly witnessed the assault and threw a blanket over the victim to smother the flames.

Authorities arrested Ortiz on Saturday.  She is being charged with aggravated assault.
