Scottish Rite has special guest from Cannon Air Force Base

Posted: Updated:

On Monday, a representative from Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis spoke with members of the Scottish Rite here in Lubbock to raise awareness about the special operations going on at the base.

Colonel Wesley Norris also spoke about the base's connection to Lubbock. Since special operations took over in 2007, the number of people on base has grown from 2000 to 4500.

Norris says the Lubbock community also shows their support, "We definitely feel the Lubbock community gives us support. One of the places you can definitely feel it is because of the main hub from an airport standpoint, to get to Clovis is going to the Lubbock airport and we see the signs saying welcome commandos."

Norris says they expect the base population to grow to 6500.
