You might have seen our local news has temporarily relocated. You may have also heard that we are launching the first HD newscast on the South Plains. It's true, but what does that mean to you? It means in a few short days, KCBD NewsChannel 11 will be broadcasting the same quality news programming you've come to expect in a brand new, high definition format.
You'll get a bigger, brighter, expanded picture much like what you can see on NBC's Today Show or Nightly News with Brian Williams.
It's an exciting time here at the station. For the last few months we've been under construction, expanding our studios and installing the latest equipment and technology. It's all in an effort to bring you KCBD NewsChannel 11's Daybreak Today, Noon, Five, Six, and Ten O'clock newscasts in a way never before seen in Lubbock or the South Plains.
Consider this: As a third generation local broadcaster, I've had the honor of seeing many changes in local news. KCBD NewsChannel 11 was the first to produce a local newscast in color, bring the first live Doppler radar to Lubbock, broadcast the first digital signal, launch the first local TV website, and I'm proud to share yet another one of those pioneering moments with all of you.
I hope you'll tune in for your favorite KCBD newscast on Monday, April 11th and see everything we've been working on.
