The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has started work a project that will make improvements to FM 179, from FM 1317 to US 380, in Lynn County. The $1.09 million project will rehabilitate and widen the existing roadway, and includes a two-course road surface treatment, said Brownfield Area Engineer Jim Combes, P.E.
"Reece Albert, Inc., of San Angelo, has been contracted to perform work to refurbish more than eight miles of roadway," Combes said. "The project will make needed improvements to the pavement, but also enhance the overall safety of FM 179 by widening the roadway."
During construction, motorists can expect lane closures, with traffic guided through the work area via pilot car and should anticipate some delay. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the work zone, be on the lookout for workers and avoid distractions for their own safety and the safety of the workers.
Work is expected to continue through mid-summer.
