Food for Thought Report 4.7

Posted: Updated:

Triple J Chophouse & Brew Co. has been at the top multiple times, so they know what they need to do to get there. And with an open concept kitchen, customers can see what's being made every time they come in.

"Our latest health inspection didn't go so well," assistant manager Justin Zimmerman said. "It was right after our lunch rush; things tend to get out of sorts right after that. We've corrected the situation, and it won't happen again."

The temperature inside a refrigerator was above 41 degrees.

"That was due to our seals on those doors and those seals have been replaced."

There was also no thermometer in a cooler.

"We had just done some cleaning, and the guys had cleared some stuff out - however they did not put everything back in there that need to be."

Employees' uncovered drinks were not in the designated spot.

"They need lids and straws."

A measuring cups was used as a scoop.

"We've actually bought all new scoops; so, there is no reason to not have the proper utensil."

The hot water was shut off at a hand sink because of a leak.

"It's been repaired now; so, there's no leak, and the hot water is always on."

Several food contact surfaces were dirty.

"Those have all been clean since then. That's something that we strive for is clean work surfaces, utensils and all that."

The report shows most violations were corrected during the inspection.

"Triple J offers everything from steaks to seafood; we do a great salmon. As far as our house-made beer, we're the only micro-brewery within 120 mile radius; so, come down and try a good steak for a meal."

MLK Burger at 107 Beech Ave. was cited for six critical violations

  • Cold foods were not 41 degrees or colder.
  • Employees did not wash their hands before putting on gloves.
  • Raw eggs were stored above vegetables.
  • There was no soap or paper towel in the employees restroom.
  • Toxic items were not in the proper place.
  • Food contact surfaces were broken or damaged.

The report shows all violations were corrected.

  • Employees' drinks were on the prep counter.
  • Raw eggs were above vegetables in the walk-in.
  • A hand sink had no cold water.
  • The dish wash machine was not sanitizing.

"We have great food. I do my best to take care of all of my customers; I appreciate them all tremendously. I do everything I can do to make sure that we put the best food on the table in front of every single person."

Cancun Mexican Restaurant at 5605 Slide had six critical violations.
