Prostate Cancer and Your Family

We've known for some time that if your father, son, or brother has prostate cancer, that makes you high risk yourself. But new research indicates one of those family connections is a more powerful indicator than any other.

Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia analyzed data from more than 300 previous studies and discovered there is nearly three times the risk when the relative is a brother, that compared to a risk that is two times as great when a man has a father or son with prostate cancer. The study will be published online Friday in the International Journal of Cancer.
