Lubbock Blood Shortage Reaches All Time Low

Imagine the anticipation of waiting for your day in surgery, only to be told it must be postponed because there's not enough blood here if you need it. That's what's happening now in Lubbock, according to Les Long at United Blood Services.

Long says Lubbock's blood supply has reached its lowest level this year. On top of that, several trauma cases overnight have further depleted our blood supply, so U.B.S says we are in a critical need for more donations. All blood types are welcome, but the universal donor "O" is needed most.

If you'd like to help, you must be 17-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. And be sure to bring your license or some form of identification.

United Blood Services is located at 2523 48th Street. To make an appointment, call (806) 741-1752.
