Now that state lawmakers have begun a third special session, a vote on a new congressional redistricting map could take place as early as Friday. A quorum in the senate was present on Monday as the remaining 10 Democratic senators returned to Austin.
The Democrats spent weeks in Albuquerque blocking the issue. On Monday, senate Republicans offered a new map that most likely would give Republicans at least 19 seats in the U.S. House.
Right now Republicans have 15, and Democrats have 17.
