Mackenzie Park Amphitheater Needs to Downsize

The amphitheater to be built in Mackenzie Park may need some downsizing.

The original bond election approved $1.7 million dollars for the project, but after planning, the price tag grew to $2.7 million. The city gave the Parks and Rec Department 18 months to seek out private donations and come up with the difference. As of Thursday's deadline, they only managed an additional $300,000.

The council decided to go ahead and approve the project, but only for the money available: $2 million dollars.
