Lubbock Firefighters stay busy Friday evening

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock Firefighters quickly doused a fire at Clapp Park Friday evening. Crews responded during our six o'clock newscast. Meteorologist Cary Allen showed viewers the pillar of smoke rising from the area on the tower cam.

It was coming from a dry, playa lake in the park. No word on what sparked the fire, but crews have been called to put out small fires at the same park many times recently. While flames did not spread far, any fire can become a big problem with the dry conditions.

Later on in the evening around 7, fire crews rushed to 86th Drive and Louisville in order to stop a fire that began in the backyard of someone's yard.  The fire damage was minimal with damages done only to a shed and the fence.
