LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - -
A Plainview family mourns the loss of two family members after a Saturday fatal car accident.
Authorities say 59-year-old Victor Briones and his son 8-year-old Elias Briones flipped their car near Lubbock County Road 2700 and County Road 5700, which is just outside of New Deal.
Neither were wearing seatbelts and DPS Corporal John Gonzalez says speed was a factor.
"A white passenger car was westbound on County Road 5700, looks like it lost control, over corrected causing it to roll," he said.
Corporal Gonzalez also stated, "We try to encourage people to remember that the speed is 65 during the day and 50 at night, but people have to adjust to the conditions of the road and please on these back roads please wear your seat belt and buckle up yourself up."
Alcohol was found in the car, but it remains unclear whether that played a roll in the crash.
