Fire near Abernathy destroys multiple structures

A large grassfire in Hale County destroyed at least four structures and hundreds of acres. Three area departments responded to the scene of fire near Abernathy.

Crews from Abernathy, Hale Center, and Petersburg all fought the wildfire which started around 5:15 Tuesday

Officials say fighting a fire in our weather conditions is near impossible. Officials say two vacant houses, three barns, and a well house were all destroyed.
