On Tuesday, City Councilman Tom Martin said Lubbock would continue to do business with the West Texas Municipal Power Agency, as long as long as "Ty" Cooke was no longer in charge. Wednesday, Cooke stepped down. Former Lubbock City Councilman Alex "Ty" Cooke retired as chairman of WTMPA on Wednesday morning.
The WTMPA came under fire last September, amidst allegations of money mismanagement. Also on Wednesday, board members elected a new president, vice-president, and treasurer; placing Floydada City Manager, Gary Brown, at the helm.
