Lubbock would benefit from a measure passed in the U.S. House on Wednesday. It would extend Federal Transit Programs.
Congressman Randy Neugebauer voted for the bill that specifically effects the operation of Citibus. If you'll recall Citibus has been forced to cut down on its services due to a cut in federal funding. That reduction in funding was a result of Lubbock's population surpassing the 200,000 mark. But, this legislation would allow the city to continue receiving federal assistance for the next five months.
Congressman Neugebauer says Lubbock is a growing community that should provide better mass transit. The bill now goes to the Senate.
