LUBBOCK,TX (KCBD) -
A senior at Lubbock High School was named as a National Scholar in the 2011 Coca-Cola scholars program.
Lubbock High School senior Sarah Jo Lambert was awarded the 20,000 dollar scholarship Friday morning after being chosen from 50 different applicants.
"It's a great honor to be recognized for the things that I've accomplished and just to say: Hey, you're gonna do great things in the future." said Lambert.
As part of her recognition, Lambert was asked to recommend a teacher who has been a mentor and an academic leader in her life. She selected her English teacher, Linda Wickersham to be the Coca-Cola educator of distinction.
Lambert will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after graduation.
