The Texas Department of Transportation kicked off its 10th annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign Friday morning at the Buddy Holly Center located on 19th and Ave. F.
Before the campaign began over a decade ago, only about 76 percent of Texas drivers were reported to be buckling up. Thanks to increased enforcement and an extensive public education campaign about the life-saving benefits of seat belts, that number has jumped to over 93 percent!
A number of DPS State Troopers will join police officers and sheriffs' deputies, statewide to ticket drivers and passengers who aren't buckled up.
So make sure you stay safe over the Memorial Day weekend.
