Lubbock Medical Examiner Terminated By County Commissioners

Lubbock County Commissioners have terminated Lubbock County Medical Examiner, Dr. Jerry Spencer.

The doctor's actions came into question following a complaint made by a co-worker, alleging that he was improperly storing breast implants and an intrauterine device removed during an autopsy.

Dr. Spencer's position with Texas Tech University remains under review. He will no longer perform autopsies, however he will continue his duties as an instructor and lecturer to Texas Tech Health Science Center students and residents.

In the meantime, County Commissioners have appointed Dr. Randall Frost as interim medical examiner. Dr. Frost is a Texas Tech graduate and is currently based in San Antonio.
