Man charged with 1989 murder arrives in Lubbock

Authorities say a man charged with the 1989 murder of a Lubbock woman arrived in Lubbock to face charges Sunday morning.

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office say a jail transport company is brought Reynaldo Rey, 48, to the Hub City from California.

He is charged with the murder of Minnie Elkins, 93. Lubbock police used evidence left at the crime scene to link Rey to the case. Rey was arrested earlier this month in Madera, California.

Police say Rey raped, robbed, and killed Elkins in her home 22 years ago.
