Shopping for power-saving appliances is cheaper this weekend thanks to the Texas Energy Star sales tax holiday.
The joint federal and state program, for products that meet efficiency guidelines, is Saturday through Monday, Memorial Day. Sales can be in stores, online and through certain catalog providers.
Eligible products, with the Energy Star logo or Energy Guide label, may be bought for existing homes, new homes and non-residential properties.
Some limits apply, such as air conditioners must be priced at $6,000 or less and refrigerators costing $2,000 or less. Other eligible items include ceiling fans, incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs, clothes washers and dishwashers.
