LUBBOCK,TX (KCBD) -
Lubbock County Emergency Management tells KCBD they've received several telephone calls this week, asking about how the burn ban affects outdoor cooking this holiday weekend.
Outdoor cooking is not banned under the current burn ban in Lubbock County, as long as the following conditions are met:
1. They must use a completely enclosed cooker
2. There are no restriction on type of fuel that may be used
3. They must follow basic fire safety practices and never leave the fire unattended
4. No open flame cookers, no open flame pits, no campfires may be used
It is important to point out that city of Lubbock has banned ALL outdoor cooking, in any of the city parks.
Buffalo Springs Lake is allowing the public to bring covered grills that use charcoal or propane to the lake this Memorial Day weekend. They emphasize that grills MUST have a cover.
The lake does acknowledge the county is under a burn ban, so NO wood fires are allowed.
