Lawmakers are still working on a final congressional redistricting map, but the lines for West Texas have finally been drawn.
An agreement on West Texas has been reached and it's not the map Senator Robert Duncan of Lubbock had hoped for. Wednesday night's map places Lubbock in the same congressional district as Big Spring and Abilene. Midland however is put in a district of its own, paired with San Angelo. Lawmakers are now focusing on the congressional lines in East Texas.
The Lieutenant Governor's office says, they hope to have a final map proposal to show us by Thursday morning. The agreement must then receive approval from the majority of the House and Senate.
