This week city inspectors checked out 15 city and county kitchens. NewsChannel 11's Food for Thought menu is a short one. Two restaurants make our report this time. One is a Top Performing spot that could be just what you need to wake up in the morning. The other has been a Top Performer before this time they turn up on the Low Performing list. But they've let us into the kitchen to explain their violations. Here's another edition of Food for Thought.

The only Top Performer this time is Koffee Kup at 2912 Slide Road. They get zero critical violations and a perfect score making them a Food for Thought Top Performer.
The Low Performer this week is Stella's at 4646 50th Street with 5 critical violations. The report shows all violations were corrected on site and restaurant owner Billy Rizzo invited us into the kitchen to go through the violations one by one.
"We discarded all the meat we needed to but you can see the case right now is holding at 34 to 36 at this point...and we've also added an additional fan on the side here to help circulate the air back here to make sure it's flowing a little more easily," says Rizzo.
"Basically everything has to be labeled from when it was made to when it needs to be pulled from the shelves, there were some things that were mislabeled and were out of date that were not pulled, we addressed that problem, corrected that problem," says Rizzo.
"This is the dry storage over here, so basically it's just cans and stuff like that and there might be somehow-the weather changed probably just came in from the outside but she said they seemed to be there for a while, we had the exterminator come back right after she was here had another inspection done so we solved the problem there."
"We had a problem with this drawer over here....there were some crumbs in it and stuff but we take care of that on a daily basis as well too," says Rizzo.
Rizzo says the restaurant strives to provide quality and safety for all of their customers, and they're back on track to keep doing that.
"Our customers have a certain expectation of Stella's and we've been a top performer before, we're not proud of this low score this time but we invited you guys into our kitchen to show you that we've corrected the problems and anybody is welcome to come through our kitchen," says Rizzo.
