According to Lubbock Police, a Lubbock man just darted into traffic last night, and that mistake cost him his life.
Police say 47-year-old Baldemar Quinones stepped into the roadway near 4th Street and University around 7:30 last night. That's when he was hit by an SUV.
Police say there was nothing 21-year-old Brian Nevins could have done to avoid hitting the man.
Paramedics took Quinones to University Medical Center, where he later died.
His death marks the 22nd traffic fatality in Lubbock this year. Last year, there were 23 total traffic-related deaths in Lubbock.
