Man critically injured in wreck in east Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Paul Rosales, 41 remained hospitalized in critical condition Thursday night, following an accident in east Lubbock late Wednesday night.

Police say Rosales was headed west on E. 50th Street around 10:15 p.m.  He was in the right lane and failed to stop at a stop sign at Southeast Drive, according to police.  They report Rosales crossed Southeast Drive, struck the west curb and continued over the curb into the median.

Rosales' 2006 Mazda came back onto E. 50th Street and went into a sideways skid.  The vehicle struck a dumpster and a telephone pole.  EMS rushed Rosales to University Medical Center with life threatening injuries.  Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

They report his passenger was buckled in, and she was not injured in the crash.  Investigators say speed and either alcohol or drugs could be factors in the crash.
