Tim Duncan scored 14 points and Aron Baynes had a career-best 14 as the Spurs overcame a 14-point first quarter deficit to win their sixth straight over the Raptors, improving to 26-9 all-time against Toronto. San Antonio has won three of six since its 11-game winning streak was halted with a loss at Oklahoma City on Nov. 27.
DALLAS (AP) - Patrick Sharp scored twice, extending his domination of the Dallas Stars, and the Chicago Blackhawks cruised to a 6-2 victory last night. Antoine Roussel scored twice for Dallas (14-10-5).Goalie Dan Ellis replaced Stars starter Kari Lehtonen after he gave up four goals in the first 28:20.
IRVING, Texas (AP) - Jerry Jones fired Rob Ryan last season because his former defensive coordinator's scheme was too gimmicky. Now the Dallas owner says gimmicks are what the Cowboys need with a defense that may go down as the worst in franchise history. Monte Kiffin's new 4-3 alignment couldn't stop backup quarterback Josh McCown in Chicago's 45-28 win over Dallas on Monday night. Now, Jones says the Cowboys has "got to look for ways to come up with whatever gimmick, whatever plan" that can hold onto the ball, get turnovers and get more possessions.
(AP) - Trevor Brazile of Decatur, Texas, secured his record-breaking 19th gold buckle when he won the all-around championship during round six yesterday at the National Finals Rodeo. Brazile has earned $312,579. His two other events in 2013 were tie-down roping and steer roping, which he won for his 18th gold buckle. Brazile has won 11 of the past 12 world all-around titles, including the past nine in a row. He broke a tie with steer roper Guy Allen, who was the first individual to attain 18 gold buckles.
