OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - L.J. Hoes homered with one out in the top of the 12th as the Houston Astros beat the Oakland Athletics 3-2 last night for their first win in four tries at the Coliseum this year. The Astros also earned their first three-game winning streak against the A's in franchise history. Hoes connected off Fernando Abad.

(AP) - Chase Headley hit a game-winning single in the 14th inning to give New York a 2-1 victory over the Texas Rangers last night. Derek Jeter broke Lou Gehrig's franchise record for doubles. The Yankees won an unlikely pitching duel after both rookie starters entered with a 5.10 ERA.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The San Antonio Stars overcame career-highs by Odyssey Sims and Skylar Diggins to beat the Tulsa Shock 95-93 last night. Sims had 39 points and Diggins had 34 for Tulsa. Kayla McBride scored 23 points. Danielle Robinson scored the game-winning basket for San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Cisco running back Mason Reed scored on a 3-yard run with 11 minutes left to play as the North beat the South 13-7 in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star football game. Reed broke a 7-7 tie with his run yesterday in San Antonio. Jake Parker's 17-yard touchdown catch just before halftime opened the North scoring. The performance earned him Offensive Most Valuable Player honors.
