Citibus offers free service on Thursday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock's Citibus invites you to dump the pump this Thursday. Citibus is offering free rides, all day long as part of National Dump the Pump Day.

On Monday, Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin, proclaimed Thursday, June 16th, as National Dump the Pump Day in Lubbock. It's part of a national effort by transportation systems across the country to encourage folks to use public transpiration.

Citibus General Manager John Wilson says public transportation can save you money on gas, but it's also good for the environment. Citibus does operate a partial fleet of hybrid-buses.

On Thursday, you can ride all the buses for free, from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. "It's free all-day long. You can do as many transfers as you want, do your shopping, go to work, do whatever you need to do that day," Wilson said.
